AI SEO: How to Actually Show Up in ChatGPT Search (2026)

Why doesn't my business show up in ChatGPT?

Three usual reasons. Your pages do not answer the question directly enough for a model to lift cleanly. The sources the AI trusts for your topic do not mention you. And nobody has measured it, so the gap stays invisible.

Fixing it starts with seeing it. You have to know which exact questions your buyers ask an assistant, and what the AI says back today.

How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my business?

This is the method, in order. It is disciplined fundamentals, not prompt tricks.

  2. Pull your real questions from Google Search Console. GSC shows the exact language people already use to find you. Turn the high-intent queries into natural-language prompts. This is the step almost everyone skips, and it is the most valuable, because it is demand that already exists instead of guessed keywords.
  3. Read what the AI cites, then get onto it. For each question, look at the sources the AI used to answer. If it keeps citing a "best [your service] in [your city]" roundup, getting onto that roundup matters more than another blog post. The citations are your roadmap.

How do I track whether AI SEO is working?

Two signals, both leading. First, your visibility score across engines (how often you are named, for which questions) should climb. Second, AI crawler visits to your site (GPTBot and the others) should trend up over the months. That second line usually moves before the bookings do, which is how you know it is working before it fully shows.
