Answer-Shaped Pages: FAQ Schema, Answer Capsules, and the Two-Sentence Test

By Nick Montes, Founder, Breadchaser · Published July 13, 2026

TL;DR. An answer-shaped page opens with a 40 to 80 word plain answer, uses the literal questions buyers ask as its headings, puts prices and comparisons in tables, carries a real FAQ backed by FAQ schema, and offers one clear next step. AI engines quote pages built this way. By the end of this project you can rebuild one page of your site to this shape in an evening.

This is Project 4 of 7 in the AI SEO playbook. You are reading an answer-shaped page right now; the format teaches itself.

What is an answer-shaped page?

AI engines quote pages that answer questions cleanly. Most local websites bury the answer under three paragraphs of welcome-to-our-website. An answer-shaped page inverts that: the answer comes first, the structure mirrors real buyer questions, and every section is written so a machine can lift it whole.

Element The rule
The answer capsule Directly under the H1: a 40 to 80 word plain answer to the page's core question. If an AI quoted only this block, the customer would be satisfied.
Question headings Your H2s are the literal questions buyers ask ("How much does cryotherapy cost in Modesto?"), not clever labels ("Our Pricing Philosophy").
The two-sentence test Every section's first two sentences can stand alone as a quote. Engines excerpt; write for the excerpt.
Tables and lists Prices, comparisons, and steps go in tables and numbered lists. Machines love structure; so do skimming humans.
An FAQ that is real 5 to 8 actual customer questions with direct answers, on the page, not hidden three clicks away.
One clear next step One booking action per page. Not four competing buttons.

What does answer-shaping do in the real world?

Kinetic Blueprint, a clinical training studio in Austin, launched a 26-page site with every page built to this shape, with schema, in under 3 days. Advanced Recovery Cryo's market-winning content, the pages behind the numbers in the case study, follows the same six rules on every service, city, and condition page. The shape is not decoration; it is the difference between a page an AI can quote and a page it skips.

Why is Step 4 where AI quoting starts?

Steps 1 through 3 made you visible and trustworthy. This step makes you QUOTABLE. When an engine assembles an answer, it excerpts: it lifts the capsule, the table row, the FAQ answer. Pages that pre-package those excerpts get lifted; pages that make the machine dig get skipped. The deeper mechanics of what each engine prefers live in the AEO field guide; this project is the execution.

One extra rule for health and wellness claims: say only what you can stand behind, cite where a claim comes from, and never promise outcomes. Engines are getting sharper about health content, and so are your customers.

How do you rebuild one page, step by step?

The drill. Pick your busiest service page and give it one evening:

  1. Write the answer capsule. One paragraph, 40 to 80 words, that fully answers the page's core question. Put it directly under the H1, bolded.
  2. Rewrite every heading as a buyer question. Pull the questions from your Project 2 prompt list; they are already in your buyers' words.
  3. Run the two-sentence test on every section. Read the first two sentences alone. If they cannot stand as a quote, rewrite them until they can.
  4. Move prices, comparisons, and steps into tables and numbered lists.
  5. Add a real FAQ. 5 to 8 questions customers actually ask, each answered in 40 to 80 words, visible on the page.
  6. Add FAQ schema. FAQPage structured data is the highest-impact technical move for getting pulled into answers. The markup mirrors your visible FAQ exactly:

Most site builders let you paste this into a page's custom code area. The one law: the schema must match the FAQ your visitors can see, word for word. Schema for invisible content gets you penalized, not quoted. 7. Cut to one next step. One booking button. Delete the competing ones.

Then ask ChatGPT the page's core question and watch what changes over the coming weeks. That before-and-after is your receipt.

Breadchaser ran it · July 13, 2026

We ran the drill's checks mechanically against our own site the day this page went live. The playbook pages you are reading passed at 9 question headings out of 10, capsules and FAQ schema everywhere. The pages where we make money did not: our buyer page and homepage scored zero question headings, and the pricing page had no answer capsule at all. We built the answer shape for the free lessons and forgot to point it at our own revenue.

Fixed the same evening, exactly per the drill: our busiest buyer page's five headings are now the literal questions from our own Project 2 prompt list. "How much does AI SEO cost per month? $997, set it and forget it." The homepage and pricing page are the next repetitions.

The receipts live in the Project 4 post in our build-in-public thread on X.

How do you make this your own?

Your upgrade: the question nobody answers. Every market has one buyer question every competitor dodges, usually about price, risk, or "is this for me." Build your rebuilt page's FAQ around the dodged question and answer it straight. Honesty where competitors hedge is the single strongest quote-bait there is, and it came from your front desk, so nobody can copy it.

Software company? The method holds exactly as written; the B2B SaaS upgrade adds a public pricing page and your vs pages to the rebuild list. Selling products? Your product page IS the answer page: the eCommerce upgrade adds spec tables, visible pricing, and the shipping and returns FAQ.

How do you train someone else on this?

The two-sentence test is a two-person game. Trade rebuilt pages with another owner or hand yours to someone on your team: they read each section's first two sentences OUT LOUD, alone, and you both judge whether it stands as a quote. What survives being read aloud survives being excerpted. Run it as peer, mentee, and mentor and the test becomes how you write everything.

Where do you share your result?

Post the before-and-after of your page's opening: the welcome-to-our-website paragraph next to the new answer capsule. It is the most visual win in the playbook and every owner recognizes their own site in the "before." Link back here so they can run it, and tag us; the best rebuilds get featured on the playbook.

Score yourself: your top 5 pages answer-shaped with schema is +1 on the playbook's 0 to 5 AI-awareness score. This project did one page; the next four are repetitions. Next: Project 5 takes you off your own site, where the answers actually get decided.

Frequently asked questions

What is FAQ schema?

FAQ schema (FAQPage structured data) is a small block of code that marks up the questions and answers already visible on your page so machines can read them cleanly. It is one of the highest-impact technical moves for getting your answers pulled into AI results and rich search listings.

How do I add FAQ schema without a developer?

Most site builders (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, GoHighLevel) let you paste a JSON-LD script into a page's custom code or embed area. Copy the FAQPage pattern, fill in your real questions and answers, and make sure the text matches your visible FAQ exactly.

How many pages should I rebuild?

Start with one tonight, then your top five: the pages buyers land on before they book. Five answer-shaped pages with schema is one full point on the playbook's AI-awareness score, and for most local businesses it covers the pages doing 80% of the work.

What is an answer capsule?

The 40 to 80 word plain answer placed directly under a page's H1, before any preamble. It answers the page's core question completely enough that if an AI quoted only that block, the customer would be satisfied.
